Transactions Page

Filter, search, and categorize your imported transactions.

Category Tiles

At the top of the Transactions page, you will see a grid of spending tiles, one for each CRA category that contains transactions. Each tile shows the category name, total spend, and transaction count. Click a tile to instantly filter the transaction list to that category. Click All Transactions to clear the category filter and see everything.

The tiles update when you change the year filter, so you can quickly see your spending breakdown for any tax year.

Filters

Search

Search by any keyword in the transaction description. Results update as you type. Useful for finding all transactions from a specific vendor.

Category

Filter to a specific CRA expense category. You can also click the tiles above the table to set this filter instantly.

Year

Show transactions from a specific tax year or all years. Changing the year also updates the category tiles at the top of the page.

Source

Filter by which bank statement file the transactions came from. Useful when you have uploaded statements from multiple accounts and want to review one at a time. Appears when you have more than one uploaded file.

Hide Uncategorized

Show only transactions that have been assigned to a specific category, hiding anything still in "Other Expenses". Useful when reviewing categorization completeness.

Amount Filter

Click the Amount button to reveal the amount range filter. Enter a minimum and maximum dollar amount to show only transactions within that range. The filter applies to the absolute value of the transaction, so an expense of $150 and an income deposit of $150 both match a range of $100 to $200.

This is particularly useful for finding large expenses above a certain threshold, or for isolating a specific transaction when you know the approximate amount but not the exact description.

Bulk Actions

Select multiple transactions using the checkboxes in the first column. Once you have a selection, a bulk action bar appears below the filters with options to categorize or delete all selected transactions at once.

Bulk categorization is most useful after uploading a new statement. Select all uncategorized transactions from a single vendor and categorize them in one step. Your correction is also used to improve future auto-categorization suggestions.

Understanding Transaction Colours

In the amount column, transaction amounts are colour-coded for quick scanning:

  • Red (negative): An expense. Money left your account. This transaction reduces your bank balance and contributes to your deductible expense totals.
  • Green (positive): Income or a deposit. Money entered your account. These transactions are tracked separately and do not contribute to your expense deductions.

The colour is purely visual and based on the sign of the amount in your bank statement. It does not affect how transactions are calculated or reported. The actual category determines whether a transaction is deductible, excluded (Personal/Internal Transfer), or tracked as income.
